Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

In final regular-season game, Johnson leads Bobcats in scoring column

SAN MARCOS, TX — There was more to Texas State's 70-53 loss to Little Rock on Saturday afternoon. So much more. Despite the importance of the Bobcats' on-the-court outcome, it was the post-game ceremony to recognize all the program's graduates that drew everyone's attention.

Jaeda Reed, a four-year member of head coach Zenarae Antoine's Texas State women's basketball program, was joined by second-year Bobcat Gabby Standifer and first-year member Jo'Nah Johnson as those who student-athletes who will call the 2021-22 women's basketball season their final collegiate basketball season.

In her final regular-season basketball game, Johnson did what she does best: score the basketball. The Texas Tech transfer finished Texas State's game against Little Rock as the team's leader scorer with 14 points on 4-of-9 shooting, including hitting a pair of 3-point attempts and knocking down four shots from the free throw line. Her six rebounds were a career high for Johnson.

Saturday afternoon marked the 77th career game for Reed as a Bobcat and the center finished with four rebounds and connected on a pair of free throws after coming off the bench. Standifer, when she appeared on the court, joined teammate Kennedy Taylor as the only two Texas State women's basketball student-athletes to have appeared in all 27 regular-season games throughout the 2021-22 season.

FROM HEAD COACH ZENARAE ANTOINE

"Everyone we honored after the game; they each have a unique story that's special to me. I appreciate student-athletes who commit themselves to an institution — regardless of what the situation is — and an idea that's bigger than themselves. That's amazing. To be at a place like this in Texas State, it's really special to me. I've made Texas State my home, so to have these young women in my house, it's been amazing to see everyone grow up and become the young women they has been amazing."
