Bobcats and Mavs to Battle in Dickies Arena

SAN MARCOS, Texas – A battle between former conference rivals Texas State (5-4) and UT Arlington (4-6) takes place Saturday at 6:30 p.m. in Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. It is the first game of a doubleheader as part of the Simmons Bank Showdown.

About Texas State
The Bobcats will be playing their final non-conference game away from Strahan Arena. They are coming off a 12-point setback to Rice this past Sunday that saw Mason Harrell score 23 points to increase his scoring average to 19.9 per contest. The senior point guard comes in shooting 47.7% from the field, 41.7% on three-pointers and 80.8% at the free throw line.
 
Also with a double-digit scoring average at 10.4 is Tyrel Morgan, who is grabbing a team-high 6.0 rebounds per game. Both Brandon Davis and Dylan Dawson have made 10 shots from beyond the arc.
 
About UT Arlington
The Mavericks are coming off a three-point loss at home to North Texas on Tuesday. UTA has picked up wins this year against Hardin-Simmons, Howard Payne, Northern Kentucky and Southwestern.
 
No player for the Mavs comes in with a double-digit scoring mark while six are putting up at least seven points a contest led by Shemar Wilson at 9.4. He also paces the squad in rebounding (8.2) and blocks (10). Aaron Cash comes in netting 8.9 ppg with a team-high 13 made three-pointers.
 
Putting up at least seven points a game is Kyron Gibson (7.6), Marion Humphrey (7.5), Brandon Walker (7.6) and Chendall Weaver (7.3). Humphrey is dishing out 3.0 apg and has recorded 16 steals.
 
 
All-Time Series
UTA leads the all-time series over Texas State 41-37. The Bobcats have won four of the last five meetings including the last as conference opponents. That came on Jan. 29, 2022, in San Marcos and ended with a score of 58-53. Saturday will be the fifth meeting between the programs at a neutral site and the first time not being in a conference tournament. The teams have split the previous four neutral site games.
