Career Games in Non-Conference Finale Victory

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Four Texas State men's basketball players set or tied their career-highs in points Wednesday afternoon in an 87-72 victory over the University of Science & Arts (Okla.) in Strahan Arena in the non-conference finale.

Mason Harrell matched his career best of 27 points on 11-of-19 shooting and knocked down three shots from beyond the arc. The senior also dished out six assists and grabbed three rebounds. Drue Drinnon netted a career-high 16 points behind four made three-pointers, Nate Martin tallied 15 points to go along with seven rebounds and Davion Coleman scored 12 points off the bench.

Falling just shy of double digits offensively was Tyrel Morgan with eight points. Nighael Ceaser grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked a team-high two shots. Also finishing with seven boards was Tuongthach Gatkek.

With the victory, the Bobcats are now 7-6 on the season. The contest was an exhibition game for the Drovers.

On the opening possession of the game, Morgan converted a layup, was fouled and made his attempt from the charity stripe for an early 3-point advantage. USAO answered with the first of its nine made treys in the contest to knot the score. Harrell connected on a jump shot the next time down the court to put TXST in front for good.

Texas State would take its largest lead of the afternoon at 83-63 with 3:27 remaining in the game after Harrell made his third and final three-pointer.

Following the Christmas break, the Bobcats return to action on Thursday, Dec. 29 in Strahan Arena when they welcome ULM to town for the Sun Belt Conference opener.
