Patty Mills North Shore Classic on Tap for Men’s Hoops

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State men's basketball team heads to Hawaii for two games in the Patty Mills North Shore Classic this weekend. Games will be played on the campus of BYU-Hawaii in the Cannon Activities Center with the first opponent for the Bobcats (3-2) being Southern Utah (3-2) on Friday at 10 p.m. CT.
 
The game will be streamed on BeTheBeast.com ($) and fans can also catch the action on the Varsity Sports Network with Bill Culhane on the call.
 
About Texas State
The Bobcats are coming off their first-ever win over a Pac-12 team on Monday with a four-point win at California. It was also the program's first victory against a Power 5 program in 24 years. Mason Harrell put up 21 points for his third straight 20-point game in the victory that also increased his scoring average to 19.4 per game.
 
Only other TXST player with a double-digit scoring average is Tyrel Morgan at 11.4 a contest. He also leads the team with 6.2 rpg. Brandon Davis is contributing 9.6 ppg and is knocking down 85.7% of his free throws.
 
About Southern Utah
The Thunderbirds' last game came on Nov. 18 that saw them fall to Kansas 82-76 on the road. Only other loss was also on the road against New Mexico while all of their victories were against non-Division I programs.
 
Tevian Jones paces SUU with 19.8 ppg and 14 made three-pointers. He is also grabbing 4.8 rpg and has recorded 12 steals. Netting 11.0 ppg and grabbing a team best 7.2 rpg is Maizen Fausett. Also with a double-digit scoring average is Harrison Butler at 10.4 ppg.

Friday will be the first-ever meeting between the Bobcats and Thunderbirds.
 
Saturday's Possible Opponent
Texas State will play either Hawaii or Sacramento State on Saturday depending on the result of both games. If the Bobcats meet the Hornets, the tip time will be 8:30 p.m. CT, and if the foe is the Rainbow Warriors, then the game will begin at 11 p.m. CT.
 
Only One
Harrell is the only player in Texas State history to have recorded 1,000 points and 300 assists. The fifth-year senior has scored 1,146 points and dished out 312 assists. He currently ranks 13th in program history for points and needs 16 more to surpass Richard Bryant for 12th-place and 47 more to move ahead of Cameron Johnson for 11th.
