States Up: Kennedy Taylor

New assist record holder discusses the feat and her future career in sports media

SAN MARCOS, Texas – In the latest States Up podcast, Texas State women's basketball's Kennedy Taylor – also known as KT3 – joins the show to talk about breaking the program's all-time assists record, what it was like playing high school basketball in DFW growing up, what inspired her nickname and more.

Earlier this week, Taylor broke the school's career assists record with a helper in the third quarter of Texas State's 69-point win at home. She broke a 32-year-old record, which served as a capstone for the 5-foot-3 point guard who has been handing out assists for the Bobcats since she was a true freshman in 2018-19. While there is plenty of season ahead, she remains the NCAA's active leader in career assists.

Taylor is in her fifth season at Texas State and has been a star on and off the court. In the podcast, she discusses what her potential career in sports media may look like after her time at Texas State is over, how playing tennis in high school helped her improve in basketball, what her teammates are like and how it helps shape the program, as well as more discussion about breaking school records.

The podcast can be heard on SpotifyApple, Amazon Music, and Google.
