SAN MARCOS, Texas – In the latest States Up podcast, Texas State football's Levi and Ben Bell share what it means to be teammates as brothers, how their journeys through adversity motivate them, and why they are so close as brothers.
 
Out of Cedar Park, Texas, the Bell brothers joined Texas State over the summer as transfers from Louisiana Tech. Levi, the older of the two, started his career at the NAIA level before playing in junior college and then Louisiana Tech. Ben, meanwhile, committed to Louisiana Tech out of high school.
 
Their paths to Texas State, though, were filled with adversity. The loss of their father while Ben was still in high school forced them to get even closer together as a family, literally and spiritually. Now, they are at Texas State as key pieces on one of the top defenses in the Sun Belt Conference.
 
In the podcast, the brothers discuss the loss of their father, why they believe it is important to play on the same team, what kind of diet they put themselves on to be high-performing athletes, and how their relationship as siblings grew over time into what it is today.
