Senior volleyball player discusses her competitive nature and future career in medicine

SAN MARCOS, Texas – In the newest States Up podcast, Texas State volleyball player Courtney Heiser shares where her love the sport of the volleyball comes from, why she loves this time of year, and what inspired her to pursue a career in the medical field after college.
 
A senior out of The Woodlands, Texas, Heiser has played in over 100 sets in her career, including 33 this year as well as six starts. She has 55 kills and helped the Bobcats open the season with a 13-5 record and 5-1 mark in conference.
 
In the podcast, Heiser shares what it was like having a "normal" offseason this past year to prepare for the current season, why she went home after her first ever volleyball practice and trained in the rain, and how she became so competitive. She also discusses her love for October and Halloween, her passion for music, and why she wants to work in medicine after her time at Texas State is over.
