PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. – The Texas State women's tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision Friday afternoon against top-seeded UT Arlington in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Conference Championship Tournament at Peachtree City Tennis Center.
The Bobcats fell behind 1-0 in the match when UTA earned the doubles point after winning in the No. 3 and No. 2 matches.
Chacadyah Israel-Lewis and
Renata Gonzalez dropped a 6-2 decision against Carla Pons and Almudena Boza in the No. 3 contest. Then,
Sofia Murcia-Rodriguez and
Nikita Pradeep suffered a 6-3 loss versus Bruna Casasampere and Momoka Horiguchi on the No. 2 court.
The Bobcats fell behind 2-0 lead when
Chacadyah Israel-Lewis lost her singles match against Boza, 6-1, 6-0. Then,
Sofia Murcia-Rodriguez fell 7-5, 6-2 against Natal in the number-four-seeded match. UTA clinched the victory when
Rishona Israel-Lewis suffered a 6-0, 6-2 loss in the No. 2 contest.
Texas State's top seeded player
Hana Kvapilova remained undefeated against Sun Belt opponents this year. Kvapilova won the first set in her match against Momoka Horiguchi, whom she beat last week, and was ahead 2-1 in the second set when the contest was stopped.
Texas State, which won its first round match against Appalachian State on Thursday, ends its season with a 6-13 overall record. UTA improves its record to 19-3 and advances to the semifinals of the Sun Belt Championship against the winner of the ULM-Georgia Southern match.
