Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Hood joins 1,000-point club as Texas State wins in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — With Texas State's win at UTSA well on its way, everyone's eyes on the Bobcat bench were watching No. 32 run up the court in front of her hometown crowd. She needed just two more points.

Then it happened.

With 3:43 remaining in the game, two UTSA defenders converged on senior guard Ja'Kayla Bowie at the elbow. Bowie dumped the ball off to an uncovered senior forward Da'Nasia Hood on the left block.

A 45-degree left-handed spin and an uncontested layup later, Hood became the 20th member of the 1,000-point club in Texas State women's basketball history. She's the first Bobcat student-athlete to reach the milestone since Brooke Holle (2016-20) did so at ULM on March 5, 2020. Hood is the eighth student-athlete to reach the milestone under head coach Zenarae Antoine

Hood, who finished the game with 1,002 career points, passed Dawn Bolner (1990-94) for 19th on the program's all-time scoring list. She will enter Monday's game at Texas Tech just 12 points shy of tying Holle for 18th.

FROM HEAD COACH ZENARAE ANTOINE

"It feels good (to see Da'Nasia Hood score her 1,000th career point tonight), because Erin Peoples is here tonight, and she also scored her 1,000th people many moons ago. She told me she was coming, and I was so excited. For me, I was most thrilled about the fact (Hood) was able to do it here in her hometown tonight in front of her friends and family. The cherry on top was having Erin, who was a phenomenal player for us, in the stands tonight to watch another reached the same milestone. It was just a fun and excited trip."

FROM SENIOR FORWARD DA'NASIA HOOD

"It meant a lot (to reach that milestone tonight), especially being from San Antonio and being able to play in front of a lot of my family. It meant a lot. It wasn't my best game, but I'm still glad we were able to get the win."

Dickson, who set her career high with eight points at ULM on February 26, 2021, also scored eight points against Huston-Tillotson on Nov. 14, 2021. Against the Roadrunners, Dickson netted two 3-point shots and made a layup to reach the 8-point total on the night.
