MONTGOMERY, Texas- The Texas State men's golf team recorded its third top-five finish this fall when the Bobcats finished in third place at the Bentwater Intercollegiate Tournament on Wednesday afternoon at the Bentwater Country Club.
Texas State shot a three-over-par 287 and finished one shot ahead of South Dakota State and UTSA. Sam Houston State was the only team to complete the event under par and won the team title by 20 strokes. Rice finished in second place, two shots ahead of the Bobcats.
Sam Houston's Chad Sewell was the individual medalist after finishing the tournament at 14-under-par. He was 11 strokes in front of the runner-up, Shaheen Momin of Houston Baptist.
Junior
Terrin Anderson tied for seventh place to lead the Bobcats after shooting an even-par 71 in the final round and finishing the tournament with an even-par total of 213.
Evan White finished in the top 20 after ending the tournament in 18th place at 3-over-par. He fired an even-par 71 in the first and third rounds.
Kasper Nyland had the best third round score for the Bobcats, finishing the day shooting a one-under-par 70. He finished the tournament tied for 25th place with a seven-over-par score of 220.
Fabian Sunden carded a 75 in the final round, and
Wyatt Koricanek fired a 76 on the last day. They finished in a tie for 35th place in the overall standings with a score of 10-over-par.
Clayton King was one of three Bobcats who were individual competitors in the tournament. King just missed a top 20 finish when he tied for 21st place with a six-over-par 219. Freshman
Jack Burke finished with a 10-over-par 223 after carding a one-over 72 in the final round.
Hynek Groh shot a six-over-par 77 in the final round, equaling his first-round effort.
