Texas State goes for season-series sweep vs. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi

SAN MARCOS, Texas– The non-conference home schedule for Texas State will be complete after the rematch vs. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 15 at Strahan Arena.

The Bobcats (3-3) are on a two-game losing streak, including a 61-58 loss to Our Lady of the Lake to end a nine-game winning streak at Strahan Arena. Offensively, TXST is averaging 67.8 points per game (ppg) behind a 43.1 field goal percentage, 31.0 3-point field goal percentage. The Bobcats hold their opponents to 64.8 ppg (No. 3 in the Sun Belt) and rank No. 5 in the conference with a 40.5 field goal percentage defense and 4.0 blocks per game.  

Junior guard Mason Harrell leads the Bobcats with 14.2 ppg. (No. 14 in the Sun Belt) in 33.5 minutes played per game (No. 7 in the Sun Belt). Harrell is shooting 44.4 percent from the field, 42.9 percent from behind-the-arc, and 85.7 percent from the charity stripe (No. 10 in the Sun Belt). He is the only Bobcat player to score in double digits every game ranks 13th in the league with 3.0 assists per game (apg). 

Junior forward Alonzo Sule averages 9.2 ppg and is coming off his fifth career double-double after totaling 12 points and 11 rebounds vs. Our Lady of the Lake. Sule has a .488 clip from the floor and is shooting 88.2 percent at the free-throw line (No. 6 in the Sun Belt). 

Senior forward Isiah Small averages 7.3 ppg and leads the team with 7.3 rebounds per game (No. 9 in the Sun Belt) and 1.7 blocks per game (No. 4 in the Sun Belt). Small also had a double-double in the game vs. Our Lady of the Lake, finishing with 11 points and 11 assists. It was Small's seventh career-game with 10 or more rebounds. 

SCOUTING TEXAS A&M-CORPUS CHRISTI
The Islanders (1-5) are nursing a five-game losing streak that began with the Bobcats back in November. The Islanders are averaging just 60.2 ppg while allowing their opponents 71.0 points on average. TAMUCC is shooting 38.0 percent from the floor and 26.0 percent from 3-point range. TAMUCC does lead the Southland Conference with 3.8 blocks per game. 

Senior forward Perry Francois leads the Islanders with 9.5 ppg and has 4.5 rebounds on average to go along with 1.3 blocks per game. Junior guard Rasheed Browne follows with 9.0 ppg and 5.0 rebounds per game (rpg). Sophomore guard Jalen White is the team's leading rebounder at 6.8 boards per game and adds 8.2 ppg. 

ALL-TIME SERIES
The Bobcats trail the Islanders 9-10 in the all-time series but have won the last three meetings, including the 12-point 75-63 win earlier this season (Nov. 28) in Corpus Christi, Texas. In the first meeting this season, the Bobcats shot a season-high 54.2 percent from the floor (26-of-48) and 60.0 percent from 3-point range (6-of-10). Harrell led the team with 18 points, followed by Sule's 14 points and junior guard Caleb Asberry's 12 points. TAMUCC does hold a 5-3 edge, however, when playing TXST in San Marcos.  

CHALK TALK
The Texas State men's basketball staff will be hosting Chalk Talk. Chalk Talk will be a presentation by one of the coaching staff members, followed by a meet and greet.
