SAN MARCOS, Texas – The No. 13 Texas State (16-1, 11-0 Sun Belt) volleyball team will conclude its road schedule against Arkansas State (8-5, 8-5 Sun Belt). The three-match series will begin at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6 and then at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7 at the First National Bank Arena in Jonesboro, Ark.
All matches will be on ESPN+ and live stats will be provided for each contest.
The Bobcats have won 13 consecutive matches and are 6-0 on the road this season. TXST leads the Sun Belt Conference in hitting percentage (.263), kills per set (14.60), and assists per set (13.68) and rank No. 3 in league in opponent hitting percentage (.148) and blocks per set (2.21).
Junior outside hitter
Janell Fitzgerald paces the Bobcats with 3.59 kills per set which ranks No. 5 in the Sun Belt and is No. 4 in the league with a .342 hitting percentage. Senior middle blocker
Tyeranee Scott leads the Bobcats with a .364 hitting percentage (No. 2 in the Sun Belt) and has 55 total blocks (0.95), including a team-high 12 solo blocks. Scott also averages 2.66 kills per set. Sophomore outside hitter
Lauren Teske totals 117 kills (2.29 per set) and leads the team with 15 aces (0.29 per set). Teske also averages 2.73 digs per set and has 20 total blocks this season. Senior setter
Brooke Johnson ranks No. 5 in the Sun Belt with 0.36 aces per set (15 total aces). Junior setter
Emily DeWalt, the Sun Belt Conference Setter of the Week for the third consecutive week, directs the offense with a league-best 11.58 assists per set and has registered 3.24 digs per set, 55 kills behind a .341 hitting percentage, and 11 aces. DeWalt ranks No. 5 on the program's all-time career assists list and enters the weekend with 3,149 career assists. Junior libero
Kayla Granado anchors the defense with 4.15 digs per set (249 total digs) that sits at No. 8 in the conference. Granado also has 12 aces this season.
SCOUTING ARKANSAS STATE
The Red Wolves will be a solid matchup for the Bobcat offense as they lead the league with 3.08 blocks per set, 19.16 digs per set, and rank No. 2 in holding their opponents to a .143 hitting percentage. A-State won its two matches last weekend at Little Rock and are winners in four of its last six matches.
Senior outside hitter Madison Brown leads the Sun Belt Conference with 4.47 kills per set (.248) and has 29 total blocks, and three aces on the year. The strength of this club could arguably the middle blockers led by sophomores Kendahl Davenport and Brianna Hollingshed. Davenport leads the league with 1.59 blocks per set and No. 5 in the league with a .340 hitting percentage, while Hollingshed's 1.26 blocks per set sits No. 2 in the Sun Belt and her .319 hitting percentage is the seventh-best in the conference. Junior setter Lauren Musante ranks No. 5 in the league with 8.78 assists per set and leads the team with 11 aces, and junior defensive specialist Tatum Ticknor ranks No. 3 with 5.61 digs per set.
SERIES HISTORY
The series between Texas State and Arkansas State is tied 10-10 with A-State holding a 7-2 advantage when playing in Jonesboro, Ark. Although the Bobcats have won four of the last six matches against the Red Wolves, TXST is 1-4 in the last five matches on the road, including a current two-match losing streak in Jonesboro.
