No. 11 Texas State concludes regular season vs. UT Arlington

SAN MARCOS, Texas – No. 11 Texas State (19-1, 14-0 Sun Belt) has the opportunity to capture its third consecutive Sun Belt Conference regular season title as it concludes the fall season against UT Arlington (9-5, 9-5 Sun Belt) at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 13 and then at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14 at Strahan Arena.
 
Both matches will be on ESPN+ and live stats will be provided for each contest.
 
The Bobcats are currently on a 16-match winning streak this season, and have won their last 15 home matches against Sun Belt Conference opponents dating back to 2019. TXST paces the league leader in hitting percentage (.257), kills per set (14.51), and assists per set (13.56). The team ranks No. 9 with 1.24 aces per set. Defensively, the Bobcats rank No. 2 in the Sun Belt with a .141 opponent hitting percentage, No. 3 in the conference with 2.20 blocks per set, and sits at No. 5 with 17.10 digs on average.
 
This week's Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week, junior outside hitter Janell Fitzgerald leads the Bobcats with 3.86 kills per set (No. 5 in the Sun Belt) behind a .357 hitting percentage (No. 2 in the Sun Belt). Fitzgerald also ranks second on the team with 0.86 blocks per set, although she leads the team with 18 solo blocks. Senior middle blocker Tyeranee Scott leads the Bobcats with 0.90 blocks per set (62 total) and ranks No. 3 in the Sun Belt with a .344 hitting percentage. Junior setter Emily DeWalt is the conference leader with 11.47 assists per set and has registered 3.31 digs per set, 61 kills behind a .331 hitting percentage, and 11 aces. DeWalt is No. 5 on the program's all-time career assists list with 3,269 career assists entering the weekend. Junior libero Kayla Granado anchors the defense with 4.17 digs per set (296 total digs), ranking No. 9 in the conference. Granado also has 15 aces this season, although senior setter Brooke Johnson leads the team with 18 total aces.
 
SCOUTING UT ARLINGTON
UT Arlington has dropped four of its last five contests, but are coming off a 3-1 victory vs. Louisiana last weekend. UTA ranks towards the top of the conference in offensive statistical categories with 13.46 kills per set (No. 3), 12.24 assists per set (No. 3), and a .191 hitting percentage (No. 5 in the Sun Belt. The Lady Mavericks leads the league with 19.96 digs per set and ranks No. 7 in opponent hitting percentage (.179), service aces per set (1.31), and No. 8 in blocks per set (2.06).
 
Junior outside hitter Brooke Townsend is the team's offensive leader with 3.17 kills per set (.233) that ranks No. 8 in the Sun Belt. She is closely followed by freshman outside hitter Brianna Ford's 3.05 kills per set which sits at No. 9 in the league. The Lady Mavericks have a pair of setters in junior setter Kylee Kapp and freshman setter Mollie Blank who register 5.51 and 5.08 assists per set, respectively. Junior middle blocker Michaela Wright leads the team with 0.81 blocks per set, and sophomore libero Alli Wells leads the entire conference with 6.69 digs per set.
 
SERIES HISTORY
The Texas State leads the all-time series vs. UT Arlington 43-41 with the Bobcats on a 12-match winning streak. This streak is tied for Texas States' second-longest active winning streak against a conference opponent (tied with Troy) behind a 16-match winning streak vs. ULM. The Bobcats are 21-11 all-time with playing the Lady Mavs in San Marcos.
