SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State football team (0-2) could not hang on to a halftime lead and fell to the Wyoming Cowboys (2-0) by a score of 23-14 on Saturday evening at Bobcat Stadium.

Gresch Jensen completed 33-of-54 passes in the game for 394 yards. The yardage total was the most for a Bobcat since
Tyler Jones netted 475 yards in a victory over Incarnate Word in 2016. He added one touchdown and two interceptions.

Hutch White hauled in 10 receptions for 96 yards, while freshman wide receiver
Jah'Marae Sheread tallied four catches for 79 yards and a score.

KEY MOMENTS
- Texas State barreled down the field on the opening offensive possession of the game. Jensen completed a trio of first-down passes to march the Bobcats down to the one-yard line. Sophomore running back
Caleb Twyford recorded his second career rushing touchdown from one yard out after plunging through the left side of the offensive line. The score put the Cats ahead 7-0 in with 9:57 remaining in the first quarter.
- Sheread hauled in his first career touchdown reception after taking a short under route 50 yards for the score. The long catch-and-run put the Bobcat ahead by a count of 14-3 with 11:15 remaining in the first half.
- Wyoming cashed in a Bobcat turnover with a touchdown late in the second quarter. Freshman quarterback Sean Chambers rolled right, tucked the ball, and snuck into the endzone from seven yards out to bring the Cowboys within a 14-10 score with 2:56 remaining in the half.
- The game turned when Wyoming senior defensive back Tyler Hall intercepted a Jensen pass along the visiting sideline and raced down the field 72 yards and for a touchdown to give Wyoming the lead for the first time in the game at the 8:36 mark in the third quarter, 20-14.
NOTABLES
- With the loss, Texas State fell to 29-10 in home openers since opening Bobcat Stadium in 1981. The Bobcats had won the previous two games to open the home slate.
- Texas State also fell to 1-3 in games played against Wyoming. The Cowboys earned the victory in San Marcos for the first time in two tries.
- Jensen made his first start at quarterback for the Bobcats in the loss. Freshman tight end
Micah Hilts also recorded his first career start. He had two catches for 43 yards.
- Texas State opened the game with a touchdown on the first offensive possession of the game for the first time since playing at Georgia State on Nov. 3, 2018.
- Senior defensive back
Anthony J. Taylor recorded his first career interception on a hail Mary attempt from Wyoming at the end of the second quarter.

Jake Spavital said. "That is something that I can live with at least. It comes down to smart, efficient football that we are about. You cannot turn the ball over three times, especially when you throw a pick-six to a team that prides themselves on minimizing mistakes."
