WACO, Texas – Friday night saw senior
Joseph Meade set a new program record at the 6K distance at the Bear Twilight Invite held at the HOT Soccer Fields. He helped the men finish to a second-place finish while the women claimed fourth.
Meade completed the course in 18:22.7 to break the previous school record for the distance by over 45 seconds. The Round Rock, Texas native was the runner-up overall in the race.
Surpassing the previous program record for the men in his first collegiate race was
Dereck Elkins. He crossed the finish line in fifth with a time of 18:37.1.
Cade Michael came in 14
th in 18:56.0 to pass the previous school record as well.
Rounding out the scoring for the men was
Owen McGlothlin in 22
nd in 19:08.5 and
Travian Holst in 23
rd with a time of 19:09.0.
The women finished in a pack with four runners between 13
th and 17
th-place. Leading the way was
Devina Schneider with a time of 14:32.5.
Leslie Romero and
Tina Sierra immediately followed her across the finish line. Coming in 17
th was
Sydney Cole in 14:37.9.
Ashley Frye and
Abby Steinhauser-San Miguel recorded 24
th and 25
th finishes, respectively.
