SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State women's tennis team played TCU in a match to help the Bobcats tune up for the Sun Belt Conference Championship on Tuesday afternoon at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.

The Bobcats fell 4-1 against the Horned Frogs with freshman
Andrea Fuchs scoring Texas State's point with a victory in the No. 5 match. Fuchs jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first set when Meredith Roberts was forced to retire following a hamstring injury, giving Fuchs the victory.

The Bobcats also were ahead in the top-seeded doubles match as
Alex Jones and
Rishona Israel-Lewis were leading 4-3 when their match against Stevie Kennedy and Marie Norris was halted because the Horned Frogs had clinched the doubles point.

TCU clinched the win with three victories in singles matches.
Julia Navajo-Melendez dropped a 6-0, 6-1 decision against Norris on the No. 2 court. Jones also suffered a 6-1, 6-1 loss against Kennedy in the No. 3 match and
Ana Perez fell 6-3, 6-1 in the top-seeded match against Aleksa Cveticanin.

The Sun Belt Conference Men's and Women's Tennis Championships will be played on April 19-22 at the Peachtree City Tennis Center, a USTA facility that includes 24 courts (12 hard courts) in in Peachtree, Ga.

Texas State enters the Sun Belt Women's Championship as the No. 10 seed and will play No. 7-seeded Appalachian State at 11:30 a.m. on April 19. The winner of that match faces No. 2-seeded Georgia State 11:30 a.m. on April 20. The semifinals are scheduled for 10 a.m. on April 21 with the championship match slated for 10 a.m. on April 22.Â
