Texas State earns decisive 97-52 win over Hardin-Simmons

Six Bobcats score in double figures, Peacock tallies game-high 12 rebounds

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State men's basketball team collected a 97-52 victory over Hardin-Simmons Tuesday night inside Strahan Arena.
 
The Bobcats improved to 2-0 on the year, while the Cowboys (0-2) remained winless.
 
Junior Eric Terry was 4-for-4 from the field and 9-of-10 at the free-throw line to finish with 17 points in 18 minutes. He also added seven rebounds. Senior Alex Peacock tallied six points, a game-high 12 rebounds and five assists, while classmate Tre'Larenz Nottingham finished with 13 points. Junior Jaylen Shead, sophomores Shelby Adams and Quentin Scott, and redshirt freshman Alonzo Sule all scored 11 points.
 
Texas State shot 47.7 percent (31-for-65) from the field, 33.3 percent (7-for-21) from distance and 87.5 percent (28-for-32) at the free-throw line.
 
Steven Quinn led HSU with 19 points off the bench. The Cowboys posted shooting percentages of 26.2 overall (16-for-61), 20.0 from behind the 3-point arc (5-for-25) and 62.5 percent at the charity stripe (15-for-24).
 
The maroon and gold led the night in rebounding (56-30), assists (25-9), points in the paint (34-for-14), points off turnovers (23-8), second-chance points (21-11), fast-break points (19-0) and bench production (41-32). The visitors led in steals (7-6).
 
TXST jumped out on a 13-1 lead and never looked back. The home side took a 46-19 lead into halftime and continued to stretch its lead out to the final 45-point margin.
 
Texas State will now head on the road for the first time this season. The team will travel to Des Moines, Iowa, for a meeting with Drake at 2 p.m. Nov. 17 inside Knapp Center.
