NEW ORLEANS – Emily DeWalt was lauded for the fifth time as the Sun Belt Conference Setter of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.

The true freshman for the Texas State volleyball team also has five Freshman of the Week plaudits on her resume this year. Her 10 weekly accolades are tied for most in a single season by one player in Sun Belt history. Earlier this campaign she already became the first freshman in Sun Belt history with more than one setter of the week award.

In her most-recent performance, she helped lead TXST to road wins at South Alabama and Troy. She loaded up the stat sheet with 79 assists (11.29/set), 18 digs (2.57/set), six blocks (0.86/set) and five kills (0.71/set). She began with 49 assists, seven digs and five blocks in a four-set win over South Alabama. She then tallied 30 assists, 11 digs and four kills in a sweep of the Trojans. She has a conference-best 16 double-doubles this season.

Texas State leads the league with a school-record 14 conference laurels. The next closest team has just six. Other Bobcats with a weekly honor include senior Madison Daigle (Defensive, Sept. 3), senior Amy Pflughaupt (Offensive, Sept. 10), junior Cheyenne Huskey (Offensive, Sept. 17) and true freshman Janell Fitzgerald (Offensive, Oct. 10).

TXST (20-5, 11-0 Sun Belt) is on a 15-match win streak, which is the third-longest in school history and the best mark since 2000. They are set for their final two home matches of the season when they host Louisiana at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 26 and ULM at noon Oct. 28.
