COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Senior
Joseph Meade was the top finisher for either Texas State cross country teams with a 24
th-place finish at the inaugural Arturo Barrios Invitational that was held at the Dale Watts cross country course.
Meade crossed the 2K checkpoint in 59
th before jumping 35 places three kilometers later. The Round Rock, Texas native crossed the finish line of the 8K race in 25:05.8 against a field that consisted of 10 Power 5 programs.
Second among the men to finish was
Dereck Elkins in 25:41.1. He placed 61
st out of 224 runners as he jumped 39 positions between the first two checkpoints.
Pacing the women's team was
Devina Schneider with a 49
th-place finish. The senior was in 75
th at the first checkpoint. She moved up 26 spots and crossed the finish line 21:59.2.
Coming in four spots behind Schneider was
Kendra Long. She recorded a time of 22:04.7 on the 6K course.
Also recording top 100 finishes was
Sydney Cole and
McKynzie King.
TXST is off until Saturday, Oct. 27 for the Sun Belt Conference Championships that will take place in Mobile, Alabama.
