Men’s Basketball Closes Out Road Trip at Little Rock

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State men's basketball team concludes its trip to the Natural State with a trip to the state capital to take on Little Rock Saturday evening. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. inside the Jack Stephens Center.
 
Coming into the game, the Bobcats have won four straight to see their record sit at 11-7 on the season and 4-1 in the Sun Belt Conference. The Trojans sport a 5-13 mark with a 2-3 record in conference action.

Bill Culhane will have the call on the radio with the game being broadcast on 103.1 FM out of Austin and KTSW 89.9 FM out of San Marcos. Nijal Pearson is coming off a 13-point, 10-rebound performance on Thursday night. He leading the team TXST in scoring (14.3), rebounding (6.1), steals (26) and made three-pointers (30).
 
Sharing the team lead at 6.1 rebounds per game is Immanuel King. The senior looks to keep moving up the program's career blocks list. He is currently tied for 10th with 52 career rejections. For the season, the Rocky Mount, North Carolina native is putting up 10.1 points per game and is shooting 61.3 percent from the field.
 
Tyler Blount has knocked down 30 three-pointers and has made a team-high 40.5 percent on long distance attempts. The senior enters the game averaging 7.6 ppg.
 
Alex Peacock comes into Saturday's contest contributing 7.8 ppg and 5.2 rpg. He is shooting 51.1 percent for the season and is 13-for-34 (38.2%) on three-point attempts.
 
Coming off a career-high 17 points in his first start at point guard, Tre'Larenz Nottingham increased his scoring average to 4.9 ppg. He has handed out 11 assists and only turned the ball over three times since Marlin Davis went down against five minutes into the Troy game.
 
Scouting Little Rock
Little Rock is coming off a 77-65 win on Thursday over SBC preseason favorite UTA. The win improved the Trojans to 5-4 in the Jack Stephens Center this season. Other wins have been over Central Arkansas, Norfolk State, ULM and the University of the Ozarks. Losses in conference play for LR have been to both Georgia programs on the road and Louisiana at home.
 
Andre Jones paces the Trojans with 11.8 ppg on 40.5 percent shooting and 65.8 percent at the charity stripe. He has struggled on shots from beyond the shot going 9-for-55 (16.4%). His 38 assists are the second most on the team.
 
Contributing 8.3 ppg is Anthony Black. He has made 43.3 percent from the field and made a team-high 25 treys on 35.7% shooting. The junior guard has recorded 18 steals, the most by a LR player this season.
 
Ryan Pippins missed the first 11 games of the season before hitting the hardwood. In seven contests, he has put up 8.1 ppg and is 13-for-17 (76.5%) from the free throw line.
 
Camron Reedus is shooting a team-high 40.5 percent on three-pointers with 15 made triples. Both he and Ben Marcus are contributing 6.6 ppg.
 
Grabbing a team-high and ranking seventh in the Sun Belt 7.7 rpg is Oliver Black. The junior is the only Trojan to start every game this season. He has converted 50.0 percent of his shot attempts and blocked a team best 14 shots.
 
Jaizec Lottie leads the squad with 2.9 apg and 18 steals while netting 6.5 ppg.
 
All-Time vs. Trojans
Little Rock leads the all-time series over Texas State 8-3. In last season's lone meeting, the Bobcats won 56-49 in Strahan Coliseum behind Kavin Gilder-Tilbury's team-high 15 points and Pearson added 13. Both Ojai Black and Bobby Conley contributed nine points and four assists apiece.
 
TXST has never beaten the Trojans in Little Rock in the previous five meetings. Last time the team's played in the Jack Stephens Center was Feb. 27, 2016 that saw LR clinch the outright 2016 SBC regular season title with a 73-68 victory.
