LONGEST-TENURED STAFF IN AMERICA
•   The Texas State full-time coaching staff consists of head coach
Karen Chisum, associate head coach
Tracy Smith and assistant coach
Sean Huiet.
•   The trio has been at Texas State for a combined 66 years (38/16/12), a mark which is by far the highest in the nation for any coaching staff. The next closest is Texas A&M at just 52 years, while Penn State ranks third at 47 years.
•   For comparison's sake, the respective coaching staffs of this weekend's opponents of SMU (43), UTSA (18), Houston Baptist (10) and UMass Lowell (9) have only been at their schools for a combined 80 total years.
A LOOK AT TEXAS STATE
•   The Bobcats began the 2017 season with nine returning players and seven newcomers.
•   TXST posted a 21-12 record overall a year ago and a 13-3 mark in the Sun Belt Conference.
•   Texas State finished second in the SBC West Division last year and advanced to the semifinals of the 2016 SBC Championship.
A LOOK AT HOUSTON BAPTIST
•   HBU owns an unblemished 5-0 mark this season, which includes triumphs over Texas Southern, Mississippi Valley, Louisiana, Jacksonville State and Prairie View A&M.
•   The Huskies have only been pushed to the brink once, with a 15-8 fifth-set win over JSU.
•   TXST and HBU are 1-1 in the all-time series. The lone Bobcat triumph came in 1971, and the lone Huskie victory was in 2011.
A LOOK AT SMU
•   SMU has split six matches this season, having faced a tough road that features Mississippi State, Rice and Virginia Tech.
•   The Mustangs have wins over Ole Miss, Arkansas State and Texas A&M-Corpus Christ.
•   The all-time series stands gridlocked at 4-4. The first meeting was in 1974 and the most-recent tilt was in 2015.
A LOOK AT UMASS LOWELL
•   UML sits at an even 3-3 this year, owning triumphs over Morgan State, NJIT and Saint Peter's.
•   The River Hawks have suffered setbacks to UNC Greensboro, Wake Forest and Maryland Eastern Shore.
•   This will be the first all-time meeting between the two programs.
A LOOK AT UTSA
•   UTSA enters the Creeds & Crests Classic with a deceptive 0-5 record this season. The Roadrunners have yet to secure a victory, but they have faced a treacherous slate that features Coastal Carolina, TCU, Tennessee, Minnesota and West Virginia.
•   Texas State leads the all-time series 55-13, but UTSA won last year's lone bout 3-1 in San Antonio.
THE LAST TIME OUT
•   Texas State snatched a 3-2 (31-33, 25-15, 14-25, 25-20, 15-10) come-from-behind victory over Sam Houston State Tuesday night inside Johnson Coliseum.
 •   The Bobcats have now won each of the last eight contests over the Bearkats and also completed the two-match season sweep.
 •   The tandem of
Megan Porter and
Amy Pflughaupt both registered their second double-doubles of the season. Porter tallied 21 digs and 18 kills, while Pflughaupt finished with 22 digs and 12 kills.
