SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State volleyball team is set to play host to Sun Belt Conference newcomer Coastal Carolina and Appalachian State this weekend. The contest against the Chanticleers will serve as the annual Pink Out match for Texas State and will be held at 6 p.m. Sept. 30. There will be an auction and pink aplenty as Texas State encourages breast cancer awareness and the search for a cure. TXST will then meet the Mountaineers at noon Oct. 2. Both matches will be held inside Strahan Coliseum.

BOBCATS OPEN SBC PLAY 2-0 FOR 4TH-STRAIGHT YEAR
Texas State has been a member of the Sun Belt Conference for four years. After an unblemished start to league play, the Bobcat volleyball team has now started 2-0 in SBC play all four years. TXST first dispatched of Troy by a 3-0 margin in Troy, Alabama, before heading over to Mobile, Alabama to come from behind and topple South Alabama 3-2. Shelby Vas Matt paced the Bobcats with 24 kills, while Jaliyah Bodlen added 21 of her own. Lauren Kirch hit a team-best .302, while putting away 19 kills. Erin Hoppe dished out 74 assists in the two matches, while Micah Dinwiddie grinded out 34 digs. She also led TXST with four service aces. Bolden and Kirch combined for 23 blocks in the two victories.
 
VOLLEYBALL SETS ATTENDANCE RECORD AGAINST BAYLOR
The Texas State volleyball team set a new attendance record of 3,634 in a 3-1 (16-25, 25-19, 22-25, 21-25) loss to Baylor on August 30. The previous attendance mark was set during the 2014 season, also against the Bears.
 
BOBCATS PICKED 2ND, KOHL LANDS ON PRESEASON ALL-SBC TEAM
Texas State was selected to finish second this season in the West Division behind defending league champion Arkansas State, who earned all 12 first-place votes and tallied a total of 72 points. Texas State garnered 58 points, and UT Arlington was third with 45 points. Little Rock was picked fourth with 39 points. The coaches also picked newcomer Coastal Carolina to win the East Division as the league moved to divisional play this year. Coastal Carolina received 10 first place votes and garnered a total of 70 points, while Appalachian State received two first-place votes and finished with 57 points. South Alabama was picked to finish third in the East with 40 points.
 
The coaches also selected a Preseason All-Sun Belt team featuring Texas State's Jordan Kohl after she earned All-SBC Second Team honors last season. The preseason team also included five 2015 All-Sun Belt first team honorees. Arkansas State's Carlisa May, Markie Schaedig and Mallory Warrington, along with Appalachian State's Ashton Gregory, and Little Rock's Edina Selimovic were all first-team selections a season ago. USA's Mechell Daniel joined Kohl as a 2015 second-team player.
