DESTIN, Fla. – The Texas State men's golf team concluded its season Tuesday finishing in seventh place at the SBC Championship played at the Raven Golf Club with a 54-hole total of 21-over par 873 after shooting a 304 in the final round. Freshman
Chase Ambrose finished in a four-way tie for eighth place at 1-over par 214.
Anthony McGeorge led the Bobcats on the day with a 75 (+4). He recorded four of the team's seven birdies.
Both
Justin Newby and
Scott Williams carded a 76 (+5). Williams had two birdies, occurring on No. 9 and 18, and Newby recorded his lone birdie of the round on the par 5, 546-yard 17th hole.
Ambrose finished the day with a 77 and
David Faraudo Godinez ended the year with a 79.
Taking home the individual title was Georgia State's Maximilian Hermann after winning a three-way playoff over teammate J.J. Grey and Troy's Calum Masters. The trio finished the three rounds at 3-under, 210.
Qualifying for match play to decide the team championship were Georgia State (No. 1), Troy (No. 2), Arkansas State (No. 3) and South Alabama (No. 4). The winner will earn the automatic qualifying spot for the NCAA Tournament.
