SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State women's basketball team suffered just its second loss at home Tuesday afternoon after falling to UT Arlington by a score of 80-48. The defeat sets the Bobcats back to 10-12 overall and 5-7 in conference play.

How It Happened: After taking an early 3-0 lead and holding UT Arlington scoreless through the first two and a half minutes of play, the Bobcats gave up 18 unanswered points before a
Toshua Leavitt three snapped the UTA run.

The Mavericks continued to build on their lead in the second quarter after holding Texas State to just 3-for-14 from the floor.
Taeler Deer led the 'Cats in the second with five points including a perfect 1-for-1 effort from beyond the arc.

The Texas State offense returned in the third quarter by going 8-for-14 from the floor including two from long-range by
Raven Burns. Despite outshooting UT Arlington in the quarter, the Bobcats saw the Mavericks lead grow by three as the Mavs made five more shots from the charity stripe than the Bobcats.

If free throws weren't a factor in the second half, Texas State would have outscored UT Arlington by a 30-26 margin. The Mavericks ultimately made 10 more trips and made 10 more shots from the line in the final two quarters of play to edge the Bobcats 38-32.

Texas State outblocked UT Arlington, 4-3, and the Bobcat bench outscored the Mavericks bench, 25-20.

What It Means: Texas State falls to 10-12 on the year and 5-7 in Sun Belt Conference play. This marks the first loss to UT Arlington since the Bobcats joined the conference in 2013. The last UT Arlington victory was on Feb. 7, 2013 by a 73-72 margin.
