Final Road Game for Bobcats Takes Place at UT Arlington

SAN MARCOS, Texas – A trip up to UT Arlington for a 7:15 p.m. contest on Tuesday at the College Park Center awaits the Texas State men's basketball team and is the last road game of the season for the team.
 
The Bobcats go into the contest with a 12-14 overall record and are 6-11 in the Sun Belt Conference. They are half a game back of Arkansas State for the final spot in the conference tournament and 1.5 behind Georgia State and South Alabama.
 
All-Time Series
Leading the all-time series 33-30 is the Mavericks. They have won 10 of the last 11 meetings with the lone Texas State victory coming in the first round of the SBC Tournament last season. In the first game this season, UTA jumped out to a big first half lead in a 65-53 win in Strahan Coliseum back on Feb. 9.
 
When playing in Arlington, the Bobcats are 9-18 and have lost five straight. Their last win was on Jan. 31, 2009 by the score of 80-78.
 
Scouting Texas State
In the last five games, Emani Gant has averaged 20.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. The senior forward has recorded three 20-point contests with a career-high 26 coming against Appalachian State. He has made 59.0 percent of his shots and gone 28-for-33 (84.8%) at the free throw line over the same span.
 
For the season Kavin Gilder-Tilbury has tallied 12.0 ppg on 44.4 percent shooting and has made 31 three-pointers. Defensively, the junior comes in with 27 steals and 11 blocks.
 
Ethan Montalvo is inching closer to cracking the program's top 10 list for career three-pointers. The Omaha, Nebraska native has made 53 triples this season and 104 in his time in San Marcos. He is seven away from tying Brent Holder (2006-08) for 10th place.
 
In the last 11 games, Ojai Black has shown he is one of the top point guards in the league. He has dished out 44 assists, with two 8-assist games against Arkansas State, and turned the ball over just 11 times.
 
Contributing 9.0 ppg and 5.1 rpg is Cameron Naylor. Coming off the bench, Anthony Roberson sports a team-high 16 blocks and is second with 5.2 rebounds per contest.
 
Scouting UT Arlington
UT Arlington enters Tuesday with a 19-9 mark and are 10-7 in the SBC. The Mavericks have won three of their last five games since playing the Bobcats for the first time. On Saturday, UTA clinched a spot in the conference tournament and are now vying for one of the two byes into the quarterfinals along with Georgia Southern and UL Lafayette.
 
At College Park Center, the Mavericks have a 10-2 record with their losses coming against Little Rock (68-62) and UL Monroe (64-61). Eight of the Mavericks wins have been by double digits with the two exceptions being a five-point game against Fordham in the season opener and a one-point overtime contest against the Ragin' Cajuns.
 
Erick Neal leads UTA in scoring (13.3), assists (5.9), steals (1.5) and made three-pointers (54). He has made 40.3 percent of his shots and 35.3 percent from long range.
 
Jalen Jones contributes 12.5 ppg and paces the squad in shooting percentage (46.6), three-point shooting (39.3) and at the charity stripe (80.5). Both Drew Chalres and Jorge Bilbao have started all 28 games this season. Charles is averaging 8.6 ppg with 50 treys and Bilbao enters with a team best 6.8 rpg and 17 blocks.
 
The Mavericks have been out with their best inside presence, Kevin Hervey, for the past 13 games. He suffered a season ending injury while leading the team at the time in scoring (18.1) and rebounding (9.8).
