Opening Kick
The Texas State football team looks to even its record to 2-2 this season and win its first home game of the 2016 season when the Bobcats host intrastate rival Incarnate Word at Bobcat Stadium on Saturday night and kicks off at 6:30 p.m. The game is televised by CBS Austin, WB 35 in San Antonio and ESPN3.
Texas State enters the game with a 1-2 record and is 0-1 at Bobcat Stadium this season after dropping a pair of games at then-No. 24-ranked Arkansas and against No. 6-ranked Houston in front of a record-setting crowd of 33,133 last Saturday. The Bobcats opened the season with 56-54 triple overtime victory at Ohio on Sept. 3.
Meanwhile, Incarnate Word also looks for its second road in 2016 after the Cardinals split their first two Southland Conference road games. UIW won 21-18 at Northwestern State on September 8 before dropping a 42-35 outcome at McNeese State last Saturday. The Cardinals are 1-3 overall this season with a pair of losses at home against Texas A&M-Kingsville and Nicholls State.
SERIES HISTORY
Texas State and Incarnate Word will meet for the first time this Saturday. The game marks the first time the Bobcats have played against a team from San Antonio since 2012, when Texas State played a conference game against UTSA and both schools were members of the WAC. This marks the first time since 1969 that Texas State will play a home game against Trinity University when the Tigers were a member of the Southland Conference.

Saturday's game will be televised on CBS Austin and WB 35 in San Antonio. In addition, the game can be seen on ESPN3. Don Harris is the play-by-play announcer, while Chuck Miketinac is the analyst and Hector Ledesma is the sideline reporter.

THE COACHES
Texas State's
Everett Withers is in his first season with the Bobcats and opened with a triple overtime win at Ohio. Withers has a 26-15 career record following last Saturday's game against Houston. He has posted winning records in each of his three previous seasons as head coach, including the 2014 and 2015 campaigns at James Madison. He guided the Dukes to a pair of NCAA Division I FCS Playoff appearances and led North Carolina to the 2011 Independence Bowl when the Tar Heels ended the year with a 7-6 mark.
Larry Kennan is in his fifth season at Incarnate Word and the Cardinals are coming off their best season in 2015 after going 6-5 overall and 5-4 in the Southland Conference.
SCOUTING TEXAS STATE
Texas State enters the Incarnate Word game looking to win its first home game of the season after winning seven home games in the last two seasons. The Bobcats are playing in their 35th season in Bobcat Stadium and has a 120-87 mark at the stadium.

Lumi Kaba is averaging 45.6 yards on 19 punts during the past two games against Arkansas and Houston. Kaba set a school record with 11 punts against the Cougars and had eight punts at Arkansas. He averaged 45.6 yards per punt in each game.
Kaba enters the Incarnate Word game with nine 50-yard punts this season after recording three against Houston. He had a 56-yard punt and two 51-yard punts versus the Cougars. Kaba also had three 50-yard punts at Arkansas after opening the season with four at Ohio.
James Sherman kicked a field goal in the second straight game. He had a 32-yard field goal against Houston after making a career-long 39-yard kick at Arkansas. The two field goals this season give Sherman three field goals in his career. A member of the Sun Belt Conference Commissioner's Academic List in 2015-16, Sherman kicked his second career field goal after making a 26-yard attempt at Florida State.
Redshirt freshman
Bryan London led the Bobcats in tackles for the third straight game when he logged 11 tackles against Houston. London had eight solo stops against the Cougars. He also had 10 tackles at Arkansas after beginning his collegiate career with a team-high 13 tackles at Ohio.
Junior
Gabe Loyd tallied six solo stops against Houston and enters the Incarnate Word game tied for second on the team with 24 tackles this season. Loyd has 20 solo tackles this season with a career-best of 10 solo tackles at Ohio.
SCOUTING INCARNATE WORD
Incarnate Word enters Saturday's game averaging 26.5 points and 324.5 yards of total offense per game. The Cardinals have thrown for 233.8 yards passing and rushed for nearly 91 yards per game.
UIW has one of the most explosive teams in the Southland Conference. The Cardinals have the longest touchdown run and touchdown pass in the Southland this year and its special teams returned a blocked field goal 76 yards for another TD.
Trent Brittain, who completed 20 of 40 passes for 209 yards, two touchdowns and an interception against McNeese last week, has thrown for 917 yards and eight touchdowns while completing 67 of 135 passes with three interceptions this season.
Broderick Reeves leads the Cardinals in rushing with 179 yards and two TDs on 53 carries.
Dorland Fields, who had a 53-yard TD run against McNeese, has 55 yards rushing on two carries this season. Jordan Hicks and Kody Edwards leads the Cardinals with 14 receptions each. Hicks has a 265 receiving yards and two TD catches, while Edwards has 243 yards and three touchdowns this season.
