Bobcats Fall 72-59 to Warhawks on the Road

MONROE, La. – Kavin Gilder-Tilbury led the Texas State men's basketball team with 14 points in the 72-59 defeat to UL Monroe Saturday afternoon in Fant-Ewing Coliseum.

The Bobcats fell to 9-9 overall and 3-6 in the Sun Belt Conference while the Warhawks are now 10-11 on the season, 6-4 in conference play and remain undefeated at home.

Gilder-Tilbury made 6-of-13 shots with a three-pointer and recorded Texas State's lone steal of the game. Recording 12 points and six rebounds was Cameron Naylor. Emani Gant totaled 10 points, eight rebounds and a season-high six assists.

Off the bench, Kendell Ramlal set a new career-high with seven points. He also grabbed three rebounds and blocked a shot.

For ULM, Nick Coppola scored 26 points on 11-of-17 shooting and dished out five assists. Also reaching double figures was Majok Deng and Travis Munnings with 15 and 12 points, respectively.

The Warhawks jumped out to a 16-6 lead behind seven points from Coppola. The Bobcats responded with a 12-2 run that was capped off by a three-pointer from Gilder-Tilbury to tie the score with 11:05 left in the opening period. However, Texas State was not able to take the lead but did manage to tie the score twice more.

ULM looked to be taking a six-point advantage into halftime but Bobby Conley nailed a fall away three-pointer at the buzzer from the right corner to cut the deficit to 36-33.

Within the first two minutes of the second half, the Bobcats were able to pull to within one twice. The last time was on a layup by Naylor with 18:17 on the clock.

ULM started to pull away and eventually took a 66-54 advantage with 6:30 to go after Coppola made his third long range shot. Five straight points from Black followed to cut the Bobcats' disadvantage to seven but the Warhawks closed the game with six points.

Next up for Texas State is Georgia State on the road Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. CT.
