WICHITA, Kansas – Texas State finished this weekend's Shocker Volleyball Classic in Wichita, Kansas, with a loss to the host team, Wichita State. The Shockers swept the Bobcats, 25-15, 25-22, 25-18, to drop Texas State to 4-7 on the season.

The Bobcats had 30 kills in the match, led by
Jordan Kohl and
Claire Kreuz. Both players finished with six kills while Kohl did it without an error on 14 attempts for a .429 hitting percentage to cement her spot on the Shocker Volleyball Classic All-Tournament Team.

Middle blocker
Morgan Lewis continued her strong play this weekend with five kills and just one error for a .308 hitting percentage while
Shelby Vas Matt and
Haley Henderson added three kills apiece.

Erin Hoppe ran the offense for Texas State with 21 assists in the match and also served up an ace. She added two kills, four digs and two blocks.

Sierra Smith led the team in digs with seven while Henderson finished with five and Kreuz joined Hoppe with four.

Kohl was able to make her presence felt defensively with four block assists and a solo block in the match. Freshman
Madison Daigle added four more blocks while both Lewis and Hoppe finished with two each. Texas State had 7.5 blocks in the match, two more than Wichita State.

The Bobcats hit for a high percentage, even finishing the third set with a .304 hitting percentage with 10 kills and just three errors. Unfortunately, the Wichita State offense proved to be too much. The Shockers used a multifaceted attack that saw four players with 10 kills or more, led by Abbie Lehman with 11 errorless kills for a .786 hitting percentage on 14 attempts.

Wichita State began the match with a .586 hitting percentage in the first set, putting down 18 kills with just one error on 29 attempts. The Shockers didn't back off after that, hitting .314 in the second set and .500 in the third to finish the match with a .456 hitting percentage. They added 40 digs in the match to Texas State's 26.

For the Bobcats, they will look to bounce back against Sam Houston State this week in the final tune-up match before the Sun Belt Conference season begins. Texas State heads to Huntsville, Texas, for a 6:30 p.m. match on Tuesday night. After that, the Bobcats start the conference season at home against Georgia State at 6 p.m. Friday followed by a match against UL Lafayette at 12 p.m. on Sunday.
