BOONE, N.C. – Thirteen lead changes and four ties fell in favor of Appalachian State Thursday evening as the Texas State women's basketball team fell by a score of 61-55 in Boone, N.C. Texas State falls to 16-12 overall and 11-8 in Sun Belt Conference play.

The victory for the Mountaineers clinched them a spot in the upcoming SBC Tournament. Texas State had clinched its spot against Arkansas State last Saturday.

Erin Peoples led the way offensively for Texas State, scoring 11.
Ayriel Anderson added 10 as she contributed eight second half points including two three's for Texas State.

Throughout the first eight minutes of play, eight of the 13 lead changes occurred between the squads. With 13:07 left in the first, a lay-up by
Jacqueline Jeffcoat ignited an 18-9 run to give Texas State a nine-point lead over the Mountaineers. That lead, however, was eliminated in five minutes time as Appalachian State regained the lead with 1:07 left in the half on a lay-up by Joi Jones.

Another lay-up by Jones with 22 seconds on the clock extended the Mountaineer lead to three before senior guard
Meghan Braeuer hit a long three on the left wing with three seconds on clock to head into the locker rooms tied at 34 apiece.

Four more lead changes occurred after the start of the half in the first three minutes of play. Appalachian State took the final lead on another basket by Jones with 16:54 to play.

A lay-up by
Erin Peoples with 5:36 left to play would tie the contest up for the final time as the Mountaineers proceeded to outscore Texas State 8-2 in the final moments of play.

Appalachian State finished the contest outrebounding the Bobcats, 46-39, while Texas State committed just 14 turnovers to the Mountaineers 15. Peoples and
Ericka May pulled down eight boards a piece to lead the Bobcats.
