Second Half Push Leads ORU Past Bobcats

SAN MARCOS, Texas -- A late second half push by Oral Roberts led the Golden Eagles to a 57-54 victory in the first round of the WBI against the Texas State women's basketball team. The Bobcats were led by Meghan Braeuer with 15 points and Ericka May with a team-high 12 rebounds.

This was the first Texas State team in school history to have made it to the postseason in back-to-back seasons after a WBI berth in 2014.

Texas State and Oral Roberts exchanged the first few baskets of the contest before the Bobcats rattled off an 8-0 run to take a 13-6 lead on the visiting Golden Eagles. A pair of three-pointers and a jumper by Jacqueline Jeffcoat propelled the Bobcats run. Oral Roberts then pursued the first of many runs to come within one of Texas State in the ensuing minutes.

One more tie occurred before Texas State would build a five-point lead heading into the half.

Texas State finished the first half shooting 6-of-10 from beyond the arc. Prior to the contest, the Bobcats had recorded 200 three's during the 2014-15 season, a mark just four three pointer's shy of the program record.

Out of the half, the Bobcats maintained anywhere from a five to nine point lead over the Golden Eagles until a late run under 10 minutes to play propelled Oral Roberts to regain the lead over the Bobcats. The Bobcats ended the game on a five and a half minute drought.

Oral Roberts' Vicky McIntyre led all players on the floor with 16 points and 22 rebounds for a double-double. The 6-7 center finished the night 8-of-18 shooting for the Golden Eagles.

Texas State finished the game with seven three-pointers, making that 207 made this season for the Bobcats. Jeffcoat finished the night 4-of-5 shooting and 11 points in just eight minutes of play. Jeffcoat's three made three's also was a career-high for the Dallas, Texas native.

Texas State finished the 2014-15 season with a 17-15 overall record and marked as only one of three teams to make to the Sun Belt Conference semifinals in back-to-back seasons.
