SAN MARCOS, Texas – A run to start the second half by the Troy Trojans proved to be too much to overcome as the Texas State women's basketball team fell to the Trojans by a score of 75-59 Thursday evening.
Â
Erin Peoples and
Taeler Deer led the way offensively for the Bobcats, scoring 16 and 13 points, respectively. Peoples also was stellar Thursday night on the glass, snagging a career-high 15 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season.

Ayriel Anderson with her "It's On Us" t-shirt during pregameDuring pregame warm-ups, Texas State student-athletes wore "It's On Us" t-shirts as a conference wide movement to bring awareness to the campaign at upcoming men's and women's basketball games. The organization of these rallies will act as a way of demonstrating that sexual assault is an unacceptable behavior, that safe harboring perpetrators is intolerable, and that support for victims is imperative.
Â
Texas State got off to a slow start against the Trojans, finding itself in an 18-12 hole with 12:28 left in the half.
Â
The Bobcats got hot in the pursuing moments as a three-pointer by
Raven Burns ignited a 16-6 run to give Texas State a 28-24 lead with 7:22 left in the half.
Â
Up 33-30 with 1:56 left in the first after a jumper by Peoples, the Bobcats quickly found themselves down three at the half after a 6-0 Trojan run.
Â
That run for the Trojans continued into the second half as Troy ultimately pursued a 19-0 run to take a 16-point lead over the Bobcats. Texas State answered with a 13-3 to come within six, but that would be as close as the Bobcats would come to the Trojans.
Â
Texas State finished the game with 42 rebounds compared to 48 by the Trojans.
Ericka May finished with eight points for the Bobcats while
Raven Burns contributed six.
Â
