SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State men's basketball team will play in front of a national audience on Saturday at 11 a.m., on ESPN 2 against Georgia State. This is the first time Strahan Coliseum has played host to an ESPN 2 broadcast.
Texas State is going for a season sweep of Georgia State after the first meeting between the two ended in a 77-74 double overtime victory for the Bobcats. Emani Gant hit a three-pointer at the end of the first overtime period to force double OT.
Texas State is coming off a 70-61 loss to UT Arlington on Thursday night in which four players scored in double digits. JaMarcus Weatherspoon, Emani Gant and Wes Davis each had 12 points to lead the Bobcats.
Scouting Georgia State
The Panthers are the reigning Sun Belt Conference regular season champions and reached the tournament championship game last year before falling to UL Lafayete.
Georgia State is led by R.J. Hunter and Ryan Harrow who combine for the No. 4 scoring duo in the country, averaging 40.0 points per game. Harrow is averaging 20.4 points per game while Hunter is averaging 19.6 points per game. In the first meeting between the two teams, Hunter was held to 0-of-10 from three-point range, while Harrow scored 29 to lead all scorers.
