SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State men's basketball team plays host to UT Arlington on Thursday night as part of San Marcos Chamber of Commerce night at Strahan Coliseum.
Thursday's meeting is the second of the season between the Bobcats and Mavericks. UT Arlington won the first matchup 66-55 in Arlington on Jan. 19.
Texas State is coming off a 69-61 loss to UALR on Saturday in which four Bobcats scored in double figures led by Emani Gant who scored 14 points and had nine rebounds. Cameron Naylor chipped in 12 points and eight rebounds. Naylor is averaging 9.8 points and 8.5 rebounds over his last five games.
Scouting UT Arlington
The Mavericks enter the game 13-9 overall and 7-5 in Sun Belt Conference play. UTA is led by Lonnie McClanahan who is averaging 10.5 points per game. He is one of two Mavericks in double figures, joined by Johnny Hill who averages 10.1 points per game.
As a team, UT Arlington has five players that have made 20 or more three-pointers this season. The team averages 6.5 made threes a game, fourth most in the Sun Belt.
