SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State men's basketball team finishes the non-conference portion of its schedule on Monday at home in Strahan Coliseum. The Bobcats welcome Howard Payne to town for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
Texas State (5-3) enters the game with a five-game home winning streak that dates back to last season. The Yellow Jackets (1-7) are a Division III school that are members of the American Southwest Conference. They picked up their win of the season on Saturday and will play Rust College Sunday afternoon before making the trip to San Marcos.
After posting a career-high 24 points in the Pacific Northwest,
Emani Gant increased his scoring average to 15.3 points per game. He is grabbing 8.0 rebounds per game, the sixth most in the Sun Belt Conference.
Kavin Gilder-Tilbury is second at 12.0 ppg and contributes 5.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists per contest.
Ethan Montalvo leads the SBC with 2.5 steals per game and 90.5 free throw percentage. He has made a team best 13 three-pointers and is averaging 10.0 ppg.
Junior forward
Anthony Roberson enters the game retrieving 6.3 rpg. Of his 44 boards this season, 23 have come on the offensive glass.
HPU is led by Khyce Randall's 16.8 ppg. His 6.8 rpg is second on the squad behind Curtis Gile's 7.4 mark. Also averaging double-digits in points is Rickey Guillory and Volney Willis at 13.6 and 10.4, respectively.
Both Bryan Adams and D.J. Gardner made their season debuts Saturday evening coming off the bench. Gardner finished the game with 15 points on 7-of-8 shooting, five rebounds and two blocks. Adams contributed 13 points with three three-pointers and two steals in 21 minutes of action.
