Gilder-Tilbury and Conley Lead Bobcats To 93-62 Victory Over Oklahoma Panhandle State

SAN MARCOS, Texas- Texas State head coach Danny Kaspar wasn't quite sure how he was going to feel at the end of the night before Tuesday night's exhibition game against Oklahoma Panhandle State in Strahan Coliseum.

"When you know that Emani (Gant) isn't going to play and then you watch Cameron (Naylor) go down in the first three minutes of the game, I wasn't sure how I was going to feel," said Kaspar.

Those feelings didn't get any easier in the first five minutes of the game when Oklahoma Panhandle State scored seven quick points to take a 9-8 lead with 15:41 left in the first half.

But, the Bobcats came out of a timeout and seized control of the game with a 26-4 run during the next 10 minutes to take a 36-13 lead with 5:41 left to play in the opening period.

The Aggies climbed back to within 15 points (44-29) at halftime, but that was as close as they would get because Kavin Gilder-Tilbury and Bobby Conley combined for 26 points to help Texas State outscore the Aggies 49-33 in the second half.

Gilder-Tilbury scored 17 of his game-high 21 points in the first eight minutes of the second half to give the Bobcats a 66-40 lead.

Then, Conley came off the bench and picked up right where he left off in the first half when he scored 10 points. Conley scored seven points on a pair of lay-ups and a three-point jumper to extend Texas State's lead to 79-45. The Bobcats coasted the rest of the way and went on to win 93-62.

In addition to Gilder-Tilbury's 21 points, Conley finished with 19, Anthony Roberson had 14 points and nine rebounds, and Kendell Ramlal added 12 points, 10 rebounds and five blocked shots.

"I thought Anthony Roberson played very well with a near double-double," said Kaspar. "Bobby also played well and I am very happy that he is feeling good about himself. He is one of the hardest workers on the team. I also thought Kendell did a good job for us too."

"I was a little worried knowing Emani (Gant) wouldn't play, Cameron (Naylor) went down right away and Ethan was very quiet tonight," said Kaspar. "But, I feel a lot better now than I was thinking how I would feel. So, I will take a 93-62 win under those circumstances."
