Texas State Men's Basketball Travels To UTEP

EL PASO, Texas- The Texas State men's basketball team looks to improve to 2-0 this season when the Bobcats travel to UTEP on Saturday night for a non-conference game in the Don Haskins Center. The game tips off at 8:30 p.m. (Central) and can heard on iheart Austin (103.1 FM), KTSW (89.9 FM) in San Marcos and KLUP (AM 930) in San Antonio.

The Bobcats enter the game with a 1-0 record after opening the season with an 84-49 victory against UT Tyler in Strahan Coliseum last Monday night.  UTEP is also 1-0 this season after the Miners defeated Loyola-New Orleans 96-49 on Nov. 14 in El Paso.
 
Texas State and UTEP will meet for the fourth time overall and first time since Dec. 19, 2006 when the Miners won 108-60 decision in the Haskins Center. The Bobcats enter Saturday night's game with a 0-3 record against the Miners.
 
THe Bobcats are coming off an 84-49 victory over UT-Tyler. Kavin Gilder-Tilbury led the Bobcats with 15 points. It marks the sixth time in the last seven games dating back to last season that he has led the Bobcats in scoring. Maljhum McCrea had an impressive debut in his first start with the Bobcats as he netted 11 points and led Texas State with nine rebounds. He enters the UTEP game ranked sixth among Sun Belt Conference rebounding leaders.
 
Anthony Roberson also came off the bench to score seven points and pulled down eight rebounds. His five offensive rebounds lead the Sun Belt Conference. Roberson also led Texas State with three assists and added a steal to tie for the team lead against UT Tyler.
 
Kendell Ramlal also came off the bench to block four shots against UT Tyler. His four blocked shots against the Patriots equal his career best effort. He also blocked four shots against Howard Payne on Nov. 30, 2014.  Ramlal also scored five points and had four rebounds against UT Tyler.
 
Following Saturday night's game, Texas State returns home to host Oklahoma Panhandle State in an exhibition game on Tuesday night beginning at 7 p.m.
