ATLANTA, Ga. – The Texas State men's basketball team closes its three-game road trip on Monday night at Georgia State at 6:00 p.m. The Bobcats enter the game with a record of 7-4 overall and 1-1 in Sun Belt Conference play following a 40-36 loss at Georgia Southern on Saturday.
With its defensive effort on Saturday night, the Bobcats moved up to fifth in the country in defense, averaging just 53.6 points per game allowed. The team's 40 points allowed marked the third time this season the opposition has surrendered 40 or fewer this year.
Wes Davis led the team's defensive effort, limiting the Eagles' leading scorer Jelani Hewitt to just 10 points, after Hewitt came into the game seventh in the country averaging 21.6 points per game.
Scouting Georgia State
Georgia State is the 2014 preseason Sun Belt favorite after capturing the 2013-14 regular season Sun Belt championship last year. This year the Panthers have been just as good, entering the game with a record of 9-4 and are ranked 13th in the College Insider Mid-Major poll.
R.J. Hunter leads the Panthers and is 15th in the country with 15.2 points per game. Hunter feeds off the three-point line, ranking 18th nationally in attempts.
