SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State men's basketball team looks to win its third straight game and improve to 5-1 overall when it meets Prairie View A&M, Saturday at 4 p.m., at Strahan Coliseum.

The Bobcats are coming off a 72-31 thrashing of Texas Lutheran on Wednesday, lowering their points per game allowed average to 51.6, seventh best in the country.

Wednesday's game included a 39-5 run to end the game. The 31 points allowed for the game was the lowest by an opponent since allowing 19 to Abilene Christian in 1957.

With the 39 points given up to Howard Payne on Sunday, it marked the first time since 1952 that Texas State has allowed fewer than 40 points in back-to-back games since giving up 35 to Texas A&M Kingsville, and 27 to Sul Ross.

Prairie View enters the game 1-7, but is a much better team than the record indicates. The Panthers have been in the SWAC Championship game the last two years and this year were down just 38-34 in the second half to Big 12 school TCU, trailing 31-25 to Oklahoma State at half and down just 33-28 to Stephen F. Austin at halftime. Seven of the Panthers first eight games have come on the road.

Saturday's game will be broadcast on 89.9 FM KTSW and www.txstatebobcats.com/radio.
