Women's Basketball Falls To Stetson Saturday

DELAND, Fla. – The Texas State women's basketball team concluded the Stetson Hatter Classic Saturday afternoon, falling to host school Stetson by a score of 75-57. Meghan Braeuer and Ayriel Anderson led the Bobcats with 13 points a piece and three made three-pointers each. Texas State falls to 5-4 to finish the non-conference portion of its schedule.

Meghan Braeuer named to the All-Tournament Team
With 15 points and five made three's against Bethune-Cookman and an addition 13 points against Stetson, Braeuer was named to the Stetson Hatter Classic All-Tournament Team. Braeuer now has a conference-leading 35 made three-pointers this season.

The Bobcats found themselves in a hole early against the Hatters as Stetson jumped out to an early 6-0 lead. That lead for Stetson grew to as many as 10 with 14:54 remaining in the half before the Bobcat offense settled in.

Raven Burns put the spark in the offense with 14:36 left in the first, nailing a three to cut the Stetson lead to seven. A second three by Burns and a lay-up by Ericka May led Texas State to an 8-0 run to cut the Stetson lead to two with 9:17 left in the first.

A few possessions later, the Bobcats found themselves tied up with the Hatters after freshman Taeler Deer knocked down a jumper to make it 19-19.

Stetson proceeded to regain the lead and would ultimately go into the locker rooms up 33-28 over the Bobcats. Burns finished the half with a team-high 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting.

Out of the locker room, Braeuer knocked down her second three of the day to cut the Stetson lead to two. The two-point Stetson lead would prove to be the closest that the Bobcats would come for the remainder of the contest.

Throughout the heart of the second half, Stetson produced a 17-4 run to take a 61-44 lead.

The Bobcats would cut that lead to 14 after a three-pointer by Ayriel Anderson, but it would prove to be as close as Texas State would come for the remainder of the contest.

Texas State outrebounded the Hatters, 49-39, and finished the day going 5-for-13 from the line. Kileah Mays finished the day with 10 rebounds for the second consecutive day.

Texas State will now celebrate the holiday season and prepare for the Sun Belt Conference season beginning on Dec. 30 against the Troy Trojans. The men's and women's team will play in a doubleheader on Dec. 30 with the women beginning at 5:15 p.m. Live stats, live audio, and live video will be available at www.txstatebobcats.com.
