SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State men's basketball team ended its non-conference schedule at 6-3, after defeating Huston-Tillotson 90-56, Saturday afternoon at Strahan Coliseum. The team's 6-3 start is the first time since 2011-12.

Texas State went on a 12-0 run towards the end of the first half to take firm control of the game. Emani Gant passed it from the post to the right corner to a waiting Kavin Gilder-Tilbury who hit a three-pointer, giving him 12 points at the time, and helped extend the Bobcats' lead to 47-32. The team would eventually take a 49-35 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Victor Bermudez went on a 8-0 run of his own to put the Bobcats up 72-48. First he hit a right wing three followed by a fast break dunk off a Wes Davis steal. He finished the run with his third three of the day, this time from the left wing. Bermudez finished the day with a career-high 11 points on 4-of-6 overall and 3-of-4 from three-point range.

Gant finished with 16 points, nine rebounds and a career-high seven assists while Gilder-Tilbury finished with 12 points, four rebounds and two steals.

Texas State had its most proficient day offensively, with a new season-high in points and three-pointers, finishing 9-of-17 from long range. It was also the first time this season that the Bobcats had five players in double digits. The last time Texas State had five players in double figures was March 2, 2013 against Idaho.

The Bobcats will now have 10 days off before beginning Sun Belt Conference play on Dec. 30 at Troy. The game marks the first of three straight on the road for the Bobcats who will also see Georgia Southern and Georgia State on the trip.
