Men's Hoops Looks for 3-0 Start at UTSA

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State men's basketball team looks to make it three wins in a row on Saturday, when it heads to San Antonio to take on I-35 rival UTSA. The game will mark the third straight foe that the Bobcats have a previous conference affiliation with, after facing Seattle (WAC) and Lamar (Southland).

Wednesday, Texas State improved to 2-0 with a 65-55 win over Lamar. Emani Gant had his first double double of the year, finishing with 14 points and 13 rebounds. He also had three steals, and is averaging 15.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.5 steals per game through the first two games after being named to the All-Sun Belt Preseason Second-Team.

Newcomer JaMarcus Weatherspoon made a big splash on Wednesday night with a game-high 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting. The transfer from Kilgore JC is averaging 13.0 points per game through his first two contests.
