SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State men's basketball team looks to build off its 62-53 win over Seattle last Friday night when it hosts Lamar on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. The meeting will be the first between the two teams since 2013 in a BracketBuster, which the Bobcats won 74-61 in Beaumont.
During Friday's season opener, Emani Gant was named the Elgin Baylor Classic MVP, scoring 17 points and adding three rebounds, three assists and a career-high three steals to go along with a block. The Bobcats allowed just 20 points to the Redhawks in the second half, the second fewest points in a half by an opponent under Danny Kaspar.
Lamar enters the game 1-1 after dropping its season opener to SMU before beating LSU-Alexandria 78-75 on Sunday. The Bobcats and Cardinals have a long storied rivalry, as they were conference mates in the Southland Conference for a long time before Texas State left for the WAC in 2012.
Wednesday's game is available on radio at KTSW 89.9 FM and www.txstatebobcats.com/radio.
