Men's Hoops Travels to UALR Thursday

Game Notes

San Marcos, Texas– The Texas State men's basketball team looks to avenge a conference opening loss to UALR, when it heads to Little Rock, Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. The Bobcats fell 63-59 in the first meeting between the two this season on Jan. 2.

In the conference opener three weeks ago, Joel Wright looked to tie the game at 60-60 with a few seconds to go, but was called for a charge and the basket was waved off. Wright was one of four Bobcats in double figures during the game, finishing with 10 points.

Naiel Smith had helped the Bobcats hang in with the Trojans, having one of his best games of the season with seven points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals.

During Texas State's most recent game, last Saturday against UT Arlington Gordon Ball led the Bobcats with a career-high 10 points and had seven rebounds. Ball was 5-of-7 from the field and had a block from behind in the second half as part of a 6-1 Texas State run, cutting the deficit from 43-36 to 44-42 with 4:23 to go. The Bobcats fell in the closing minutes 56-48.

UALR enters Thursday's contest 4-2 in the Sun Belt. The Trojans are led by Will Neighbour who is averaging 17.8 points and 7.2 rebounds a game. He had 20 points in the two teams' first meeting.
