Men's Basketball Hosts UT Arlington Saturday

Game Notes

San Marcos, Texas
– Texas State renews its longtime rivalry with UT Arlington Saturday, at 4:30 p.m., at Strahan Coliseum. The Bobcats and Mavericks have mirrored each other in conference realignment the last few years, joining the WAC and Sun Belt at the same time after several years together in the Southland Conference.

Texas State enters the weekend 1-3 in Sun Belt play after splitting its two-game roadtrip last week. The Bobcats held ULM to 36 points, the lowest point total in nearly 30 years on Jan. 11, before falling to UL-Lafayette 81-58 on Jan. 13.

Joel Wright has recorded a double-double in each of his last two games. He had 17 points and 10 rebounds against the Ragin Cajuns following a 14 point, 10 rebound performance against the Warhawks.

UT Arlington comes into Saturday's game 6-10 overall and 1-3 in conference play. The Mavericks have been a dangerous team this season, featuring the leading scorer in the conference in Roger Dowell who is coming off a thigh injury and is averaging 22.1 points per game. In its non-conference schedule, UT Arlington nearly upset both Texas and Oklahoma on the road, before falling 72-69 to Texas and 91-89 to Oklahoma.

For those who cannot make the game it will be broadcast on KTSW 89.9 FM and on www.txstatebobcats.com.
