Lafayette, La. – Coming off its best defensive performance in nearly 30 years, the Texas State men's basketball team looks to make it two wins in a row when it travels to take on Lousiana-Lafayette, Monday night at the Cajundome. The game is televised on the Sun Belt Network and can be seen on ESPN 3.
On Saturday, the Bobcats tightened their grip on ULM in the second half, allowing ULM to shoot just 11.5 percent, holding the opponent to 3-of-26 from the field. ULM went over eight minutes without a point as Texas State went on a 12-0 run from the 8:49 mark until ULM's final layup with 17 seconds to go.
The Bobcats won the game 61-36, allowing their fewest points by an opponent since Grambling scored 35 on Jan. 14, 1985. Texas State is now second in the Sun Belt Conference in points allowed at 66.0 points per game.
The Ragin Cajuns will present a difficult challenge for the Bobcats, Monday night. Lafayette is the only team in the country to feature two players that average 20.0 or more points per game. Shawn Long leads the squad at 21.5 and Elfrid Payton is second on the team with 20.1 points. Payton came back to ULL after playing for FIBA U-19 Team USA this summer which won the gold medal.
