SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State went up 2-0 against Texas Tech but fell just short against the Red Raiders Tuesday night as Texas Tech won, 20-25, 18-25, 27-25, 25-22, 15-11. The loss drops the Bobcats to 9-5 on the season, but Texas State will look to rebound against UTSA at 6 p.m. Friday.

The Bobcats saw pretty even production from the hitters with
Ashlee Hilbun leading the way. She finished with 15 kills on a .333 hitting percentage.
Shelby Vas Matt added 12 kills while
Amari Deardorff finished with 10.
Molly Ahrens finished with eight kills and just one error for an impressive .412 hitting percentage.

For the second time in four matches, Texas State went to a 6-2 rotation, inserting
Jordan Moore to split time with
Caylin Mahoney at the setter position. Mahoney gave out 24 assists in the match with nine digs, four kills and two blocks while Moore gave out 23 assists with two digs.

Texas State outblocked Texas Tech, 11-10, and hit a better team hitting percentage, .200 to .194.
Sierra Smith led Texas State in digs with 14 while
Ali Hubicsak chipped in 12 and Vas Matt had 10 on the way to 74 digs for the team.

Texas Tech's top offensive threat, Breeann David, finished with 23 kills against Texas State while Aubree Piper tallied 17. Davis took over the fourth set with 10 kills in the frame.

The Bobcats hit an impressive .429 as a team in the fifth and final set, but could not overcome the Red Raiders.
