SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State will host its second Big XII opponent of the season when the Bobcats welcome Texas Tech to Strahan Coliseum Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m.
Â
The Red Raiders own the all-time series at 9-18-1, but the Bobcats have won two of the last three meetings, including a 3-0 sweep in San Marcos Sept. 2, 2009. In that match, the Texas State fans broke the attendance record, setting it at 2,389. That's a mark that fans will be hoping to break this time around.
Â
Texas Tech enters Tuesday's match dropping its last two matches, and the last seven of eight matches played. Texas State and Texas Tech do not share any opponents so far to date this season, but the Red Raiders do have an interesting set of matches on their schedule. Texas Tech swept Abilene Christian in Lubbock on Sept. 3, but then fell to ACU, 3-1, on the road on Sept. 10. The Red Raiders are looking for a little bit more consistency.
Â
The Bobcats, however, are getting plenty of consistency from their top three players.
Caylin Mahoney continues to give out assists after assist from the setter position while
Amari Deardorff has been an offensive monster for the Bobcats, striking 158 kills on a .355 hitting percentage. Meanwhile,
Ashlee Hilbun has continued to be solid for the Bobcats. In fact, she put up seven blocks in Texas State's most recent match, a sweep of SEC opponent Arkansas.
