Game Notes

San Marcos, Texas Texas State men's basketball welcomes Seattle and Idaho for its last pair of WAC home games this season. The Bobcats will host Seattle on Thursday, February 28 at 7 p.m. Texas State will then play Idaho on Saturday, March 2 at 2 p.m. Texas State will honor its three seniors before the game on Saturday.

Series

Texas State defeated both Seattle and Idaho on the road earlier this season. The Cats topped Idaho 78-73, and then went on to earn an 86-83 win over Seattle.

Scouting Texas State

Texas State is coming off a 74-61 defeat over Lamar in its ESPN BracketBuster game this past weekend. The win was the second straight BracketBusters win for Texas State. Junior forward Joel Wright registered 27 points, seven rebounds, six assists, four blocked shots and two steals in the game to earn Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors. Wright ranks first in the WAC in scoring with 17.6 ppg, and first in WAC-only games at 18.7 ppg. Matt Staff is second on the team in scoring with 10.9 points per game and a team-high 36 blocked shots.

Scouting Seattle

Seattle enters Thursday's game on a five-game losing streak. The Redhawks are in 10th place in the league standings with a WAC record of 2-13. Seattle's overall record stands at 7-18 with only two of the victories coming on the road. The Redhawks are the league's top rebounding team with 14.08 offensive boards per game, and 26.56 defensive rebounds per game. Deshaun Sunderhaus leads the squad with 6.3 rebounds per game.

Scouting Idaho

Idaho picked up a 75-69 win against Idaho State on Saturday in its ESPN BracketBusters game. The victory snapped a four-game losing streak for the Vandals. Idaho is currently in sixth place in the WAC with a league record of 5-10 and an overall record of 10-16. The Vandals are 5-8 on the road so far this season. Idaho leads the league at the free throw line with 75.0 percent and beyond the arc with 37.0 percent. Kyle Barone ranks third in the league in scoring with 16.6 points per game, and is first in rebounds at 9.4 boards per game. Stephen Madison also ranks in the top five in scoring with an average of 14.9 points per game.
