San Marcos, Texas – Texas State hosts I-35 rival UTSA on Saturday, Feb. 16. Tip-off versus the Roadrunners is slated for 4 p.m. Fans are encouraged to wear white for the “White Out.”
Series
Saturday's matchup will be the 55th meeting between Texas State and UTSA. The Roadrunners lead the all-time series, 31-23. Texas State won the last meeting on Jan. 19, in an 81-78 overtime thriller.
Scouting Texas State
Texas State is coming off an 84-69 loss to league-leading Louisiana Tech. The Bobcats are currently in eighth place in the WAC with a league record of 3-10. The Bobcats are 3-9 at home so far this season. Joel Wright ranks second in the WAC in scoring with 17.4 ppg, and first in WAC-only games at 19.2 ppg. Matt Staff is second on the team in scoring with 10.6 points per game and a team-high 31 blocked shots.
Scouting UTSA
UTSA is 5-19, 1-12 in WAC play. The Roadrunners are on a six-game losing streak after falling to Cal State Bakersfield 61-52 on Tuesday night. Kannon Burrage the Roadrunners leading scorer, ranks first in the league with an average of 17.7 points per game. The Roadrunners have three players ranked in the top 10 in scoring in the WAC. UTSA is ranked seventh in the league in scoring offense with an average of 64.3 points per game.
