Bobcats Head to Louisiana

Game Notes

SAN MARCOS
, Texas – Texas State has won three of its last four matches and five of the last seven. The Bobcats will look for more wins with two matches on the road this weekend against ULM at 7 p.m. Friday and Louisiana at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Both Louisiana teams played each other Wednesday with the Ragin' Cajuns coming out on top in straight sets. The win put Louisiana tied with Texas State and UT Arlington for third place in the Sun Belt Conference behind Western Kentucky and UALR.

Back in late September, the Bobcats hosted both schools and went through them in six straight sets to start the conference season. The Bobcats went on to win three of the first four matches in SBC play.

While the Warhawks sit at the bottom of the conference standings at 2-12 in the league, Louisiana has proven itself to be a dangerous foe. Now tied for third place, the Ragin' Cajuns are the only team in the conference that has claimed a victory over top team Western Kentucky.

Not only that, but Louisiana also took down second place team UALR. The Ragin' Cajuns took care of Western Kentucky in five, but was even more impressive against the Trojans with a four-set victory on the road.

Against Louisiana, the Bobcats will have to be aware of the top three offensive players: Lavinia Tataran, Tonice White and Sara Mossakowski. All three Cajuns have more than 200 kills and are averaged 2.38 kills or higher. Tataran and Mossakowski both average two digs or more per set as well.

For ULM, Hadley Swartz and Hope Pawlik lead the team with 273 and 220 kills respectively. Blanca Ocana only has 146, but averages 2.25 kills per set. None of the top nine hitters on the team average higher than a .188 hitting percentage. To put that in perspective, six Bobcats have a better average.

Texas State will have to be prepared for a 6-2 rotation from the Warhawks with Katie Harrington and Kayla Kane serving as the setters. Harrington has 424 assists on the year while Kane has 410.

Fans will be able to follow live stats at Louisiana's website: www.ragincajuns.com for that match, but live stats at ULM will be unavailable.
